1. Why is hockey registration so early?
Like many other associations in the country, MMHA has started having registration earlier in the year to help us be organized and ready for the season ahead. Quite often, the league fall meeting takes place in early October and we need to have teams split up and chosen by that time. The ice now goes in much ealier than previously and we will be hosting some power skating/skills/goalie clinics prior to the season so numbers are very important in planning. This also allows MMHA to take the time needed to choose the best coaches for your players.
Having registration early also allows families time to make payments throughout the 4 months and split payments up as necessary. We understand that hockey can be expensive, and we want to lighten the load for our families as much as possible.
If you choose not to register until the fall, that is quite all right, but keep in mind prices go up after August 1.
2. Why is there an early bird discount of $100?
MMHA has implemented a discounted rate of $100/player if registered prior to August 1. This is the second year this has been in effect and the reasoning is to strongly encourage families to register and pay for their players by the deadline so that MMHA has a comprehensive list of players for that season. MMHA can better organize teams and have the season organized if everyone is registered by a certain date. This also eliminates MMHA having to track down people for payments that were forgotten or missed.
3. Why is registration online only?
This season, we are working on a new website platform that is easier to use and will hopefully help keep our registrar organized as registrations come in. With online registration, all info is input once only and is stored for years to come. This will hopefully save time for our families and make things easier. While you can only register online, MMHA will accept the following forms of payment: MasterCard/Visa (with registration), Etransfer (sent to moosominminorhockey@hotmail.com with the answer: Rangers) and cheque (mailed to Box 1749, Moosomin, SK, S0G 3N0). With the new website, most players info will already be in and will be a quick and easy process for years to come.
4. What if I am applying for KidsSport?
We encourage families that need the help to apply for KidsSport. If you are doing this, please let Randi Thorn (treasurer) know and she will take note. We are not trying to make things difficult for people, rather the opposite and we are willing to work with extenuating circumstances as needed.

5. Why is registration open for 3 months?
Having registration open for 3 months allows families plenty of time to make payments to MMHA for hockey fees and split up as needed. If you need to send payment in 6 transfers over those 3 months, that is perfect. MMHA is trying to alleviate some of the financial stress from registering for hockey while still having registrations and payments in by a certain date.
6. Where do my fees go?
Fees for hockey go to the following: SHA- insurance, Town of Moosomin- ice rental, referees, pucks, raffle tickets, clinics provided by MMHA, league fees as well as the general running of MMHA.
